GOALS

MAIN

Our main goal is to make a positive impact in the lives of people with various intellectual and developmental disabilities. We aim to assist them in realizing their potential and build their self-esteem. In addition, we have several other goals:

Employ as many special needs adults as we can.
Support the families of our special needs employees. Caring for an adult with special needs can be stressful and we aim to provide an environment where caregivers will know their loved ones are nurtured.
Raise awareness with other employers. We hope that other employers will take notice of the value of our employees and realize that they have jobs for them as well.
Share the love of Jesus with our community.

MONETARY

In order to accomplish the goals listed above, we must also have monetary goals. Lives of Purpose is seeking to open Awaken Coffee and to make that mission happen, we need to raise approximately $400,000. This figure includes the necessary expenses of opening a retail establishment such as building renovation, equipment purchases, training, insurance and inventory.

COFFEE

In addition to our main and monetary goals, Awaken is going to be a coffee shop and therefore, must provide an excellent coffee! Our goal is to bring all the knowledge and experience of master roaster, Toby Foreman of HÆRFEST Coffee, to Pitt County. Toby has been in the coffee business for nearly 30 years and was trained by the Diedrich family, giants in the coffee world. Toby opened HÆRFEST to assist those with intellectual and developmental disabilities to become vital inclusive members of our communities and work force. It is only natural that Awaken partner with a roaster that shares it's values and mission while providing excellent coffee.
